Free the Land
Feb 01, 2024
You’re angry because the land is angry
Your sadness is in the sand
You’re fighting a war inside of you
Plagued by a dark hand
You’ve forgotten who you are
Because you’re told how not to be
But we’ve discovered we’re one race
Fighting for a misguided hand
The hand of freedom reigns the land
It brings you to your knees
To fight the forgotten fight inside you
Fear, shame, guilt, loneliness and grief
The pain is endless I can’t fight no more
My brother and sister of next door
We’re one and the same mind and heart
One I neglect to see,
I’m too busy fighting for my right and forgot how I love to be
Bring me down to me knees my forgotten self
And show me who I am
I cannot fight this fight no more
Of killing my friend next door
For who is that friend but another me
that I neglect to see
A me so far and distant,
afraid to just be me
For one last time I cannot stand it
The pain is just too much
This inner fight with my own best friend
The child who’s heart lost touch
Let your weapons down
And your shields too
They are protecting nothing true
The only life worth living for is that of me with you

This is a dedication:
- to those who have had the courage to walk the journey to find their forgotten self.
- to those who are currently experiencing war, conflict, loss, misdirection, hopelessness and abuse of power.
I salute your journey and I wish you courage to face your inner truth and freedom from inner and outer tyranny.
